About Us

McLachlan Thorpe Partners offers you small firm service with large firm expertise.

We focus purely on doing the best for our clients, and all our energies are driven towards making your legal issues as clear and straightforward as possible.

We offer you what we know best
We concentrate on the legal areas that are most important to our clients and their businesses. We provide astute and insightful advice on often complex and challenging corporate and commercial, dispute resolution and litigation, and property matters.

By sticking to what we know and do best, we bring high level skills to our clients' matters. You will receive advice from partners and senior lawyers whose experience and knowledge is as solid as those at the largest firms. Indeed, in most of the matters we act on, the other parties are represented by the big corporate firms.

Your legal spend goes further
Not only that, with our hourly rates being up to 30% lower than the largest firms, your legal spend will go much further. Our partners' rates are those of much less experienced lawyers at the big corporate firms, yet we have the same level of skill, knowledge and experience as partners of those firms.

Your direct access to partners
You will always have direct access to our partners. Our personal style of service - close activity by partners on each matter - has built strong, loyal relationships with our clients. Almost 100% of our new business comes from referrals from clients.

"Would we pay for this?"
McLachlan Thorpe Partners' high ethical standards mean you will always know where you stand regarding fees and costs.

We do not charge for every second we spend on matters. We are careful to ensure that our accounts reflect value for money. Your accounts will reflect only the work we have done to move your matters closer to conclusion.

And we do not inflate our overheads with superfluous costs. While client service comes first for us, we do not spend money on frills, such as an in-house café service and expensive surrounds. Instead, we focus on taking care of your legal matters.

Our test is to ask: "Would we pay for this?" If the answer is no, then there is no charge to you.
